The Right Now Skinny on Alzheimer's Disease


Well, after one year of planning and over a two-year hiatus because of COVID-19 Alzheimer’s EEE Summit is back and better than ever… Over 15 CE’s for Nurses and Social Workers applied for, and evidence-based cutting edge content on: ➡️ Prevention ➡️ Treatment ➡️ Alzheimer’s Family & Community Support Why is this so important? Because only five years ago the word prevention could not even be used with the force than can be used today. The work of Alzheimer’s prevention was getting its wings in clinical studies, yet now progress in understanding the causes and progression of the disease is broadening and intensifying. Evidence is mounting in ways that impassions me with a desire to empower professionals, communities and families.

Through COVID-19, the heightened public exposure to racial inequities, the economic, emotional and mental strain on families and healthcare Alzheimer’s disease and related Dementia’s may be less publicized, but the escalating realities still screaming loudly.


As a quick refresher here are seven quick current facts:

  • MORE THAN 6 MILLION AMERICANS ARE LIVING WITH ALZHEIMER'S.

  • IN THE UNITED STATES, ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA DEATHS HAVE INCREASED 16% DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

  • NEARLY TWO-THIRDS OF BLACK AMERICANS (62%) BELIEVE THAT MEDICAL RESEARCH IS BIASED AGAINST PEOPLE OF COLOR - A VIEW SHARED BY SUBSTANTIAL NUMBERS OF ASIAN AMERICANS (45%), NATIVE AMERICANS (45%), NATIVE AMERICANS (40%) AND HISPANIC AMERICANS (36%) AS WELL.

  • 1 IN 3 SENIORS DIES WITH ALZHEIMER'S OR ANOTHER DEMENTIA.

  • IN 2021, ALZHEIMER'S AND OTHER DEMENTIAS WILL COST THE NATION $355 BILLION.

  • TWO-THIRDS OF BLACK AMERICANS (66%) BELIEVE IT IS HARDER FOR THEM TO GET EXCELLENT CARE FOR ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE OR OTHER DEMENTIAS.

  • 2 in 5 NATIVE AMERICANS (40%) AND HISPANIC AMERICANS (39%) BELIEVE THEIR OWN RACE OR ETHNICITY MAKES IT HARDER TO GET CARE, AS DO ONE-THIRD OF ASIAN AMERICANS (34%)
